New DJI Mavic Pro 2 Pro and Zoom – All The Leaks and Rumours

New DJI Mavic Pro 2 Pro and Zoom – All The Leaks and Rumours

The countdown is well and truly on for the reveal on Thursday at 10am in New York for the brand new, much talked about DJI Mavic Pro 2.

As with other DJI drone launches, there has been much chatter online about new features, release dates and price – and this one is no exception.

Fans of DJI are eagerly awaiting the Mavic Pro 2, which succeeds the DJI Mavic Air unveiled at the beginning of this years and its predecessor, the DJI Mavic Pro, and have been buoyed by various ‘accidental’ leaks both in print and online – more about that soon.

After postponing their first launch date of July 18th, DJI’s hand was forced after photos of the Mavic Pro 2 surfaced online from UK retailer Argos’s print catalogue.

Those revealed not one but two models of the highly anticipated Mavic Pro 2 – and ‘Pro’ model and a ‘Zoom’ model, showing that the Pro would be offered with a professional Hasselblad camera with 1 inch CMOS sensor and the Zoom with a 24-48mm 2x optical zoom.

Now, we can categorically let you in on another few features, thanks to yet another UK leak, as online shop ‘Very’ prematurely posted both models on its website earlier today.

While not online for long – the retailer quickly realised its error – one genius grabbed some screenshots quick smart and shared to Facebook’s DJI Mavic Group.

Firstly, take note of the whisper ‘quiet’ blades previously only a feature of the Mavic Pro Platinum.

Also, the photos clearly confirm the presence of a Hasselblad camera on the Pro version – look closely at the lens below the ‘head’ of the drone.

The Zoom version, on the other hand, shows a smaller lens piece, so no confirmation of the 2x optical zoom but the name itself surely proves this is a minimum.

In addition to the Very screenshots, more rumours have surfaced, this time from twitter’s OsitaLV.

He previously made a reference to a possible one-key hyperlapse feature – and although his leaks have not always proved to be true, we thought this one could really be something.

He then pointed out a few days ago, “So, one-key hyperlapse on Mavic 2 should be their primary new function. Otherwise they won’t post a lot of hyperlapse shot on Twitter or teaser video of new product.”

Since then another image has been posted online – although links to it have since been deleted.

That image is of the bottom of what is supposed to be the Mavic Pro 2 – and shows what appears to be ‘various openings for screws, ultrasonic sensors, downward dual-vision sensors, a downward infrared sensing system’, according to DroneDJ.

This would suggest omnidirectional obstacle sensing – a feature which will purportedly also be on a new DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Edition – again, an image of which was mistakenly posted online, this time by DJI itself, and will apparently include the ability to add accessories.

As for price, although the Very images show a starting price of £1200, the fact that both products were posted at an oddly and heavily discounted sale price suggests that this is not to be relied upon.

OsitaLV instead suggests that the Zoom would in fact be more expensive than the Pro version, citing the difference in price between the Zenmuse Z3 and Zenmuse X3 as an example.

It is all still conjecture and hearsay, however – the only thing for it is to stay tuned – the countdown is on!
