Drones will literally get a ‘look in’ at premier audio-visual event Infocomm this year, which is set to begin next week in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Leading AV company Epson will have several audiovisual technology solutions on show at the event, including their specialty, high-tech laser projectors.
In addition to this, they are showcasing Moverio BT-350 smart glasses and Moverio BT-300 FPV Drone Edition smart glasses which are augmented reality designed to provide drone pilots with real-time, completely hands free first-person views (FPV).
The glasses are a lightweight design and can be used by drone photographers and enterprise professionals alike.
The system consists of two components – the glasses and a touchpad base controller, through which a number of innovative apps can be accessed including DJI GO and DJI GO 4.
The glasses work by projecting a large digital image directly in front of the pilot, allowing a pilot to maintain line of sight with their aircraft while running the apps.
As explained in DJI’s Moverio tutorial, the BT-300FPV box includes the glasses, controller, charger, micro USB cable, carrying case, temple grips (which are inserted into the temples an offer more secure fit), headphones and a light shade which help flying in brighter scenarios, a frame for prescription glasses and a taller nose pad which is used when wearing prescription glasses under the BT 300.
The drone Edition includes an extra dark shade and accessory clips which allow you to securely mount the BT-300FPV glasses into a Phantom or Inspire phone mount.
Additional accessories are sold separately including a premium polarised lens shape by Rochester Optical.
From a professional perspective, Epson hopes that the Moverio BT-350 smart glasses will improve how industries approach client needs, as well employee training, and product testing.
With a built-in camera, the smart glasses allow drone photographers, videographers and other content producers to stream live or send recorded videos to anyone connected, anywhere around the world.
