Yuneec Releases Typhoon H Plus With Intel Depth Perception Technology

Chinese drone manufacturer Yuneec has finally announced they will be releasing their new hexcopter model, the Typhoon H Plus next month – and it will be loaded with stacks of powerful features that will no doubt excite aerial photographers, beginners and professionals alike.

Yuneec introduced the new Typhoon at CES2018, where it was received along with the Firebird FPV and the HD Racer.

With a very similar exterior to Yuneec’s older model, the Typhoon H Plus boasts completely new specs, including high aperture one-inch sensor camera that can shoot 20 megapixel stills and video at 4K / 60 frames per second.

But the real clincher is the inclusion of Intel® RealSense™, a depth perception technology that means the Typhoon H Plus can really see in 3D the objects surrounding it, allowing highly accurate obstacle avoidance capabilities.

On the inside, the new Typhoon also packs a whole new flight control system that brings with it improved, efficient flight (and a reduction in noise of up to about 40%) and a flight time of half and hour.

The flight controller, which is based loosely on the PX4 autopilot, also means Yuneec have been able to add a whole arena of clever flight and image capturing modes, including Point of Interest, Orbit Me, Curve Cable Cam, Journey Mode, and even Team Mode for those working as part of a film or photography crew.

Michael Jiang, CEO of Yuneec International, says the addition of Intel® RealSense™ has expanded the possibilities of what a drone pilot and photographer can do.

“These improvements underscore our commitment to developing industry-leading technologies,” he said.

“Virtually every drone pilot has experienced varying flight conditions and faced challenging shot requirements in the field. The hexacopter airframe provides pilots with unrivaled stability, redundancy and allows pilots to effectively capture necessary shots with the improved one-inch sensor.”

To complete the flying experience, Yuneec have added in the kit a newly redesigned Android-based ST16S controller – with a huge, bright 7″ display and HD 720p video downlink, pilots get fantastic streaming of their videos in real-time.

Available from July 1, 2018, the Yuneec Typhoon H Plus will be available to consumers at Best Buy and Yuneec.com at a retail price of US$1899.99.
