Rumours abounded prior to the release of DJI’s newest addition to their drone family, the Mavic 2.
Available in two versions – the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom – there was a lot of speculation about which features would or wouldn’t prove true upon launch.
With a professional Hasselblad camera with 1-inch sensor on the Mavic 2 Pro, and 2x optical zoom (24-48mm, 4x total zoom) with a 1/2.3 inch sensor for the Mavic 2 Zoom, DJI fans weren’t disappointed.
But it was the confirmation of hyperlapse mode for both models – including Free, Circle, CourseLock, and Waypoint modes – as well as a quick shot dolly zoom emulator for the Zoom version, that are some of the most exciting features for this gamechanging foldable drone.
In the few weeks since launch, Mavic 2 pilots have been compiling new creative shots using these features – so we just had to bring together some of our favourites here for your viewing pleasure.
On Airvuz, aerial footage creator bbloss used his brand new DJI Mavic 2 Zoom to create this awesome hyperlapse sequence of cityscapes, perfectly demonstrating the capabilities of the high quality camera on board the Mavic 2 Zoom. “The hyperlapse night views of the traffic flow and streetlights below in this drone video are super crisp and dreamy,” writes Airvuz.
We couldn’t go past this impressive hyperlapse sequence of the Chicago city skyline, either. Without a doubt this has got to be some of the snappiest footage around of this spectacular city skyline. Kudos to aerial footage creator, Majestic.
“What if Mission Impossible was shot in Xiamen”, asked aerial footage creator panvelvet. Here’s the answer: a cheeky take on the well known action film.
Latvia-based Eaglewood Films shows off the foggy spring mornings of Latvia’s forests using the Mavic 2 Pro‘s lowlight capabilities and hyperlapse mode.
We love this sequence titled “The Lake” shot by aerial footage creator chrisneibauer, using the Mavic 2 Pro – but is that a dolly zoom in there??
We couldn’t go past Chris’s sequence of the North Cascades in the Pacific Northwest USA either – truly majestic!
