Asteria Aerospace Launches Industrial IoT Platform for Drones

Asteria Aerospace, a Bangalore based drone and robotics company have announced the launch of Genesis, its industrial IoT network platform for drones. Genesis is a secure enterprise software platform that will enable effective management of drone fleets in surveillance & security operations.

Genesis is available as a deployment ready Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform to all customers starting today. Genesis allows authenticated users to login from any device, anywhere, and view video, images, sensor and telemetry data from multiple drones in real-time. The data captured by the drones is automatically stored and managed on the platform for search and analysis.

Police surveillance at public events is now state of the art thanks to Genesis. The software platform allows for deployment of several drones over a city that provides live video feed broadcasting it to a central command centre. Decisions made at the command centre can be relayed to the drone operators or quick response teams through the same platform, ensuring that that all security agencies involved are on the same page.

Neel Mehta, Managing Director at Asteria Aerospace, explained the idea behind building such a product:

“Genesis eliminates the gap between information and action for drone-based surveillance workflows, by bringing data from multiple drones to key decision makers and response co-ordinators in real-time.”

The Genesis platform proved successful in security management during Durga Puja 2017 and Gangasagar 2018 festivals by the West Bengal state police force. Genesis allowed live monitoring of video feeds at their Kolkata headquarters, from drones deployed in multiple districts.

Nihar is an Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and worked at the Boeing Co. as a Systems and Flight Test engineer and was later at Accenture as a Process and Strategy Manager (Supply Chain) in his professional career prior to founding Asteria. At Asteria, Nihar is responsible for business development, client management, developing sales, and creating and administering effective marketing methods.

Co-founder Neel Mehta completed his Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University and pursued his M.S. degree in the same field from Georgia Tech with a specialization in Flight Dynamics and Control. He was a System Engineer (Flight Controls) in Rockwell Collins Inc., USA for more than 3 years. At Asteria, Neel is responsible for leading product development, focusing on the research of new technologies for making innovative products.

The products developed by Asteria have made the market sit up and take notice of the company namely- Cygnus, Genesis and the A400. The CYGNUS is a mini UAS with best-in-class endurance, range and payload capabilities. The A400 is a vertical takeoff and landing mini UAS for quick deployment from confined locations.

What makes Genesis truly unique is that it allows a remote operator to send commands over the network to multiple drones, paving the way for fully autonomous and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations. The Genesis platform has been developed for better scalability and integration into sophisticated security solutions helping provide rapid response to security threats and emergencies.
