DJI and FLIR Announce Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual with Thermal Camera

FLIR Systems has integrated its FLIR Lepton micro-thermal imaging camera with DJI’s Mavic 2 drone: DJI Mavic 2 Drone with FLIR Thermal Imaging.

The product will be demonstrated at CES 2019 in Las Vegas next week.

Roger Luo, president of DJI said, “The addition of thermal imaging capabilities provided through the Thermal by FLIR Program enables DJI to create dynamic airframes that can fly in a variety of conditions, including at night and in fog and smoke.”

The Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual features include:

Powerful and Portable FLIR Thermal Imaging

Sensors allow pilots of The Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual to perform flights at night, as well as in fog and smoke. Users can select from multiple intelligent display modes in the DJI Pilot flight control app to visualize data from the dual-sensor camera like the FLIR MSX, Spot Meter and Isotherm combined with its Area Measurement feature to aid search and rescue pilots in identifying people and to help firefighters identify hot spots in fires, as well as a custom profile setting for added flexibility.

Modular Accessories for Added Capabilities

The full line of Mavic 2 Enterprise accessories can be securely mounted to the drone’s body and operated through the DJI Pilot flight control app. These accessories include a dual spotlight, a loudspeaker with a maximum projection of 100 decibels and a beacon that features a bright flashing strobe visible three miles away- designed as per U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Night Waiver specifications.

Enhanced Data Security Features

Mavic 2 Enterprise like the Mavic 2 Enterprise incorporates a GPS time stamping feature for accountability of data captured by the drone to be used in situations from reviewing critical infrastructure inspections to potential legal proceedings.

Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual users can activate the Local Data Mode feature in the DJI Pilot App which will stop the user’s connected mobile device from sending or receiving any data over the internet, providing added security assurances for operators of flights involving critical infrastructure, governmental projects or other sensitive missions.

Improving Flight and Airspace Safety

Every Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual features DJI’s most advanced video and data transmission system, Ocusync 2.0 and also with AirSense technology which automatically alerts drone pilots of ADS-B signals from nearby airplanes and helicopters and by sending real-time positioning alerts through the DJI Pilot flight control app.

Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual uses DJI’s maximum flight time is 31 minutes and top speed is 72 kph (45 mph). Its self-heating battery allows the drone to perform reliably in adverse weather conditions as low as -10 Celsius (14 Fahrenheit).
