The Chicago Tribune reported an incident about a drone that had crashed into an upper floor of a building east of Michigan Avenue downtown Thursday morning, breaking a window but injuring no one.
Police were called to the 100 block of East Wacker Drive just before 7:55 a.m. following the report of a drone that had crashed through a window, said Officer Michael Carroll, a police spokesman.
When they arrived, police were sent to the 27th floor, where they found the drone and took it into police inventory. No one was injured in the incident and the operator has not been located, Carroll said.
Police say that the drone crashed into the window of a downtown high-rise building, located in the 100 block of Wacker Drive, leaving a large hole.
Police stated that they have confiscated the drone, and that they are still investigating. Police also confirmed that there were no injuries and that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident yet.
The drone was reportedly flown into a 27th floor window and crashed in through a window in 111 E. Wacker around 8 a.m. Authorities posted a message on social media reminding residents that it is illegal to fly drones within Chicago city limits.
