One of the leading National Security Solutions providers, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. has announced a $27 million single award IDIQ contract of its Unmanned Systems Division (USD) with a U.S. Government agency related to unmanned drone systems.

Kratos which specializes in unmanned systems, satellite communications, cyber security/warfare, microwave electronics, missile defense, training and combat systems. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. is known for developing transformative, affordable technology for the Department of Defense and commercial customers. Kratos’ highly proactive research and streamlined development process is changing the way breakthrough technology is brought to market.

Its USD is an industry leader in the rapid design, development and fielding of affordable high performance jet powered unmanned aerial drone systems for tactical, combat and target applications. Work under this contract will be performed at secure Kratos facilities and at government locations.  Steve Fendley, President of Unmanned Systems Division, said, “This recent contract award is another important milestone in the successful execution of the unmanned systems strategy that we set years ago.  All of Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Division is proud to support this important National Security customer.”

Eric DeMarco, President and CEO of Kratos, said, “Kratos’ Unmanned Systems Division continues to successfully execute its business plan as demonstrated by this most recent contract award, and with our recent participation in Formidable Shield 17, where a number Kratos unmanned target drone and ballistic missile targets performed successfully.  Additionally, USD remains in pursuit of several other large program opportunities which we are hopeful of receiving over the next several weeks.”

Kratos has maintained a high standard in delivering state-of-the-art, unmanned aerial system solutions and high performance aerial target systems, including training and logistics support. It’s BQM-167A, BQM-167i and the BQM-177i that have been operating in the U.S. Air Force and its BQM-177Awith the U.S. Navy to name a few.  Kartos specializes in products like its MQM-178K also known as Firejet which is its smallest of aerial targets, developed  for carrying carrying a combination of internal and external payloads including tow targets, smoke oil, proximity scoring, passive & active (RF) augmentation, and infrared (IR) augmentation.

Located in the Sacramento Metropolitan Area, the Kratos claims that its UAS team of 300 professionals provides a full range of engineering and manufacturing services for build-to-print and custom applications. Flexibility and experience are the building blocks that Kratos relies on for its continuing success in delivering cutting-edge unmanned aerial systems cheaper and faster than other companies in this market.
