Postal Guru Deepak Chopra to Advise Drone Delivery Canada
Deepak Chopra is intent on taking a transformative approach to UAV company Drone Delivery Canada (DDC).
To be fair, the Deepak Chopra we speak of is not he of the enlightened inspirational talk ilk, but former CEO of Canada Post Group.
However, as Canada Post’s former head, Chopra has been recognised as having an instrumental role in the transformation of the postal group during his seven year tenure there.
Now, having recently stepped down from the position as CEO and president, Mr. Chopra has agreed to join DDC as the company’s Strategic Advisor – Commercialization.
During his time at Canada Post, Chopra oversaw the change from traditional postal house to an innovative powerhouse based on e-commerce and servicing 16 million people far and wide across Canada, including in the remote and hard to reach northern regions of the country.
At DDC, Chopra will identify commercial opportunities across various areas of transportation and logistics including remote healthcare and other time-critical package delivery needs, translating his knowledge and expertise in reaching rural and far north communities of Canada as well as other countries.
Tony Di Benedetto, CEO of Drone Delivery Canada, says that Mr Chopra’s addition to the team will be invaluable.
“2018 is the year DDC moves out of our lab and into the sky enabling our customers to use drones for critical package deliveries. We welcome Mr. Chopra to team DDC and are confident that his global experience and acute understanding of hard-to-serve remote communities will play an invaluable role in achieving our goals quickly and efficiently,” he says.
“As the year progresses, we will continue adding materially to our team with a direct focus on commercialization and revenue generation.”
Mr Chopra says that with DDC’s firmly established experienced in beyond-visual-line-of-sight, they are well place to achieve these goals.
“With technology for Drones rapidly maturing to fly farther and carry heavier payloads, the list of potential commercial applications is quite large” he says.
“With a head-start on BVLOS testing, Drone Delivery Canada has the first mover advantage in Canada to be at the forefront of these solutions”. “For example, in the healthcare space, broadband access and Drones create an ideal mix in delivering tele-health for rural and remote communities.”
