It’s the end of the year, and you’re flicking through travel brochures for next year already? Stop right there! Google has just announced their most searched holiday destinations and there are some serious contenders for those of you with wanderlust in your eyes. Sun-soaked holidays for all budgets feature – and to make it that much easier (or perhaps more difficult?) for you we’ve compiled a 4K drone video list of the best holiday destinations around the world.
You may have heard of Cape Verde but have little idea where it is? This tiny country hidden in the Atlantic off the to the west of Africa, consists of a cluster of 10 or so islands, and makes the perfect destination for those escaping the cold Northern Hemisphere winter.
Costa del Sol
Hugging the north-eastern coast of Spain just north of Gibraltar is Costa del Sol, literally meaning “the sunny coast”. Estapona in it’s whitewashed glory is a resort town rich in restaurants, water sports and the flower-filled square of Plaza de las Flores.
Ah, the Greek Isles. The clear turquoise waters, the brilliant white architecture, the rugged cliffs and fluttering sailboats. Who can resist this picturesque, idyllic destination?
Another island favourite…the stuff of holiday dreams, Bora Bora packs it in with rustic huts set off lagoon boardwalks, clear waters perfect for snorkelling, swaying palm trees and gorgeous sunsets.
Italy’s darling, this beautiful holiday isle boasts nearly 2,000kms of rocky coastline and sunny beaches, a majestic mountain interior and some history in the form of Bronze Age stone ruins thrown in to boot.
Eastern Europe may not be the first place that comes to mind when we think of holiday destinations, but perched on the Adriatic Sea it features jewel-like beaches, sparkling seaside towns lined with marinas and boats, and medieval architecture. Well worth a visit.
Morocco brings to mind the bazaars of Marrakesh and Moorish architecture. But did you know that it too boasts some wonderful seaside towns, such as Mohammedia? Just 15 minutes from Casablanca, this beautiful city on the Atlantic coast needs further exploration!

Situated in North Africa, Tunisia borders the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert. It’s a perfect destination for divers, with a wreck-strewn coast, as well as shoppers and history buffs – make sure to check out the souks and the ancient site of Carthage.
