DJI Mavic Mini Drone Leaked
DJI fans are in for some good news, the drone industry giant is apparently set to release its cheapest 4K drone yet with the Mavic Mini that is expected to bring 4K recording capabilities for $399.
A few leaked images of this upcoming drone from the Chinese patent filing make it look like a cross between the Mavic Air and the Spark. The DJI “Mavic Mini” leaks so far have come from the usually reliable source of DJI drone pilot and filmmaker OsitaLV, who suggested in a Twitter post that the Mavic Mini’s price could be $399, which will likely translate to £399 for the UK. This means it could be cheaper than the DJI Spark, which is currently out of stock and has an RRP of £449, suggesting that the Mavic Mini could be a successor to that model.
DJI Mavic Mini specifications:
Speculations are rife that DJI’s new series of drones and will weigh around 350g and will be 270mm long diagonally when unfolded. It’s a welcome change from the Spark- a tiny drone but one that didn’t fold, making it difficult to transport.
The rumored features the DJI Mavic Mini:
- a 12MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor capable of recording videos at 4K and 1080p at up to 60fps.
- a 3-axis gimbal on which the camera module will be mounted.
- DJI’s advanced wi-fi communication tech for an extended range.
- the Mavic Mini is speculated to have a range of about 2,000m or more.
- a micro USB port and a micro SD card slot under the battery bay. But considering that all recent DJI drones have a USB Type-C connector, the Mavic Mini could make a switch to that by the time it reaches the markets.
The recent spate of negative drone publicity and the upcoming new UK drone laws, which will make it mandatory to register any drone that weighs over 250g, has so far meant no new DJI drones in 2019.
Another factor is AirSense, DJI’s aircraft-detecting tech, which it says will “become standard on all DJI drones weighing above 250 grams” from 1st January 2020. Would DJI release a new drone before then without AirSense? It seems unlikely, which means that even if a Mavic Mini is announced this year customers may not be able to buy one till after Christmas.
Leaked video of DJI Mavic Mini shows a potentially revolutionary camera drone- a new video has been leaked that’s purporting to show the DJI Mavic Mini.
‘Mini’ this new drone is the same size as the hand of the person handling it. The Mavic Air weighs in at just 430g – significantly lighter than the Mavic Pro’s hefty The DJI Mavic Mini is rumoured to be just 245 grams an entire 5 grams under DJI’s self-imposed weight limit.
This is again due to the lack of an ADS-B receiver in the Mavic Mini. Because of this, there’s no need for DJI to hold onto it until its self-imposed January 2020 date. However, with leaked photos, specs and even video appearing pretty consistently, it looks as if DJI is ready and raring to drop some incredible new products as soon as it possibly can.

There’s a lot of doom and gloom surrounding the industry right now thanks to the lack of launches. Here’s the thing. DJI announced a flagship was not releasing until 2020. The company will integrate AirSense in all drones weighing over 250 grams (FAA registration) starting on January 1, 2020. It doesn’t mean camera drones are gone. Instead, DJI is staying out in front of any regulatory traps.
DJI has an event scheduled for August 13, where enthusiasts and the industry could hear more about the Mavic Mini. While it’s possible one could see a Mavic Mini announced then, the event teaser suggests it’s more likely to be for the announcement of the DJI Osmo Mobile 3.
