UAVOS Inc has introduced its SURVEYOR-H Unmanned Aerial System with UVH-290E drone vertical takeoff/landing within unmanned systems exhibition & conference UMEX (February, 25 – 27, Abu Dhabi).

The new unmanned helicopter in the “tractor” modification has a takeoff weight of 192 lbs (87 kg) and is designed in such a way that such parameters as durability, extended operation life, ease of use and serviceability have got a priority over flight time and load capacity of UAVs.

Multi-purpose unmanned UVH-290E helicopter is the newest modification of UAVOS helicopters with a gasoline rotary engine. In comparison with the previous version, the telemetry of helicopter state parameters has been expanded which allows controlling the basic parameters in flight, thereby contributing to the increased reliability and safety.

The flying range of the UAV is 249 miles (400 km), the practical ceiling is 6800 ft (2100 m). The flight time of the helicopter is 5 hours with a payload of 11 lbs (5 kg). In addition, the efficiency of using the aircraft in difficult climatic conditions with a wide temperature range -31F + 122F (-35C to + 50C) has been increased.

Vadim Tarasov, UAVOS investor and board member said, “The technical architecture of the new VTOL was designed by taking into account the experience of commercial use of helicopters with different target payloads. The new UAV embodies a whole range of design features that enhance the strength and operational survivability of the machine. So, the construction of the unmanned vehicle was strengthened. The helicopter has a completely aluminum framework without the presence of hobby components.”

Our complex implements re-transmission of data on the command line, which significantly increases the area of the safe operation of the complex. The EW countermeasure function makes it possible to carry out research in the conditions of jamming of satellite radio navigation signals and the command line channel.

For the new helicopter, a target payload with a 4K day camera, thermal camera and laser rangefinder is designed. Weight of the gyro-stabilized suspension is 8l bs (3.6 kg). Its gimbal includes a computer for processing video on board, capturing and tracking targets, recording data and automatic guidance.

The unmanned UVH-290E helicopter is positioned as a multi-functional aircraft and can perform a wide range of tasks: from research missions to the delivery of cargo weighing up to 20 kg, in hard-to-reach areas.

“The main objective of upgrading our VTOLs fleet is to enhance the reliability of equipment, and to increase the resource and to simplify operation for the personnel. In particular, the new version of the petrol helicopter has an automatic starter generator, an easily assembled structure for the convenience of transportation, and a power scheme has been updated for redundancy of some systems,” – concludes Vadim Tarasov, UAVOS investor and Board member.

UAVOS Inc., headquartered in Mountain View, CA, has recently raised a round of financing from a group of private investors, in order to further enhance its R&D efforts, reduce the go-to-market time for new solutions and also focus on promotion and commercialization. UAVOS works directly with a number of large customers in different segments. Among UAVOS advanced ready-for-commercialization technologies is unique Apus High Altitude Pseudo-Satellite control system for high-altitude unmanned solar-powered aerial vehicles, multiplatform autopilot solution for converting manned vehicles of all types into unmanned, and unmanned aerial vehicles aimed to counteract systems of electronic warfare.
