New DJI Mavic Pro 2 Release Date Confirmed – See the Bigger Picture

A new release date, rumoured specs and maybe just maybe a ‘one-key hyperlapse’

Rumours of a new Mavic Pro 2 have now been confirmed, along with a release date – and it’s only 8 days away.

An official invitation sent to us overnight now fully confirms the recently announced date and location for DJI’s ‘See the Bigger Picture’ as 10am, August 23rd EST in New York.

There had been much speculation about a new model for the DJI Mavic Pro, with a release date of July 18 previously set for a new product launch by the Chinese drone giant.

That date was then called off so that “we can deliver according to our standard of innovation,” according to a statement from DJI.

The news of the Mavic Pro 2 was let out of the bag due to a break of embargo by UK print catalogue Argos – leaving DJI no option but to confirm it.

“This pre-printed catalog was planned before we postponed our See the Bigger Picture event to guarantee our customers high-quality, state-of-the-art technology in line with our standard of innovation,” according to a statement from DJI. “This hasty look alludes to the many exciting features and capabilities that DJI will be announcing at the right time, and we look forward to giving our fans an amazing drone experience as soon as we can.”

As for the new features of the DJI Mavic Pro 2, there is still a bit of guesswork.

Twitter personality OsitaLV has guessed that the price tag will something around the Phantom 4 Pro 2.0, which would be about $AU1800.

In comparison, the DJI Mavic Pro price starts from $1,399.

The photo from Argos magazine spill a couple of beans in regard to specs, although really, everyone is in the dark as to whether these will be part of the new Mavic Pro 2 until the August 23 launch.

There will be 2 version of the new Mavic Pro 2, according to the Argos advert – a Pro and a Zoom.

The Pro version shows a professional camera system – a Hasselblad camera with 1 inch CMOS sensor.

The Zoom version is touted to offer a 2x optical zoom (24-48mm).

Both will ‘turn your sky into a creative canvas’, the Argos advert said.

It also states that both models will be able to fly for 31 minutes, at a top speed of  over 70kph.

Additionally, both will be able to transmit 1080p videos live over 8km, and features 360 degree obstacle avoidance.

As for OsitaLV’s allusions to a one-key hyperlapse on a consumer level drone? Wouldn’t that be something – we’ll just leave this right here so you can ‘see the bigger picture’:
