With just 5 days until DJI unveil two new models of the Mavic Pro, the Chinese drone giant has released a tantalising video on Youtube.
“For more than a decade, we’ve taken the dimensions of space to give you the freedom of flight,” DJI says in the video.
The dronemaker, which is by an order of magnitude the leader in the consumer drone space continues:
But did you think we’d stop there? Let us take you beyond the horizon where something incredible awaits...It's about time. #dji #mavicpro2 @dronebelow Click To Tweet
And indeed it is. Interest in the new Mavic Pro is clearly intense.
So far we know that the two versions – a Mavic Pro 2 Zoom and a Mavic Pro 2 Professional – will be revealed at the New York launch at 10 am on August 23, 2018.
Both models are no doubt much anticipated – the Pro for instance is sure to offer brilliant pictures, as according to leaked pictures from UK’s Argos magazine, will be kitted out with a 1 inch CMOS Hasselblad camera. DJI acquired a majority stake in Hasselblad, the iconic Swedish camera back in 2015.
The Zoom model on the other hand, will offer 2x optical zoom (24-48mm) to help hobby and professional aerial photographers alike to capture amazing scenes as never before.
Both models, in addition to having a 31 minute flight time and maximum speed of 20m/s (according to the leaked advert), will include Active Track, allowing the drone to follow the pilot.
But even better than that – the advert also says that the Mavic Pro 2 will have omnidirectional obstacle avoidance with APAS (an upgraded version of obstacle avoidance standing for Advanced Pilot Assistance System which came out with the Mavic Air).
This is a feature we’ve really been hoping would be added to the new Mavic Pro – so if it’s true – it really is about time!
